The panel is dedicated to the presentation to the public of the book “Francesca Alinovi”, published by Postmedia Books and curated by Veronica Santi and Matteo Bergamini. The book is a collection of articles, interviews, essays, and reviews by Francesca Alinovi, a militant intellectual and a leading figure in the Italian and international post-punk art scene. Appeared in newspapers, magazines and catalogs from 1976 to 1983, some texts are republished here for the first time, others are unpublished, while still others have been selected by “L’arte mia”, released in 1984 and remained, until today, the only homage to the Alinovi’s critical work.
Thanks to a scientific and unscrupulous writing, which goes beyond gender boundaries, the book is a journey within the avant-garde currents and artists that the author loved and reviewed: from the bologne’s scene of ’77 to New York New Wave, from the cartoonists of Frigidaire to the music of Talking Heads, up to the fascinating reports by Alinovi on the East Village and South Bronx “graffitisti artists”, accompanied by interviews with the protagonists. For years disappeared under the blanket of crime, today more than ever we wish to reread this author missing in the books on the history of art, and deliver her thoughts of profound topicality to the new generations.
Speakers: Veronica Santi (curator), Matteo Bergamini (curator). Introduction by Paola Ugolini (critic and art curator)
