In the year of Dante, 2021, for the Uffizi Galleries the celebration takes the form of a major exhibition on the artist Giuseppe Penone. The path begins precisely from this engagement with one of the great exponents of Arte Povera, and in particular with the large sculptural installation “Abete” placed at Piazza della Signoria, the central square of Florence: a tree in steel and bronze, with a height of about 22 metres. The central location of the sculpture in the city interprets the particular reference to the literature of Dante in contemporary art, and creates a semantic starting point of the large solo exhibition at the Uffizi Galleries, “Alberi In Versi”. The works the artist has carefully selected during his visits to Florence have been specially positioned inside the spaces of the museum, and the dialogue with historical art brings out this communicative exchange. Associazione Arte Continua has mediated this dialogue and collaborated on the production of this exhibition, taking part in a proactive way in this extraordinary adventure.
