La Discoteca is the latest project realized by Jacopo Miliani, curated by Elisa Del Prete and Silvia Litardi, winner of the Italian Council and acquired by the Luigi Pecci Center for Contemporary Art in Prato. The project explores linguistic contaminations by examining the central themes of Miliani’s research, concerning body language, dance, community places and the performance of the self. It consists of the artist’s first film (25′) and a publication issued by Viaindustriae Publishing that gathers the materials of the film and related research (with documents from “Flavia Madaschi” Documentation Centre of the Cassero LGBTI+ Centre in Bologna, the “Aldo Mieli” Documentation Centre in Carrara, “Babilonia” Magazine, and the personal archive of the Roncarati brothers, owners of the Kontiki).
La Discoteca is an initiative supported by the Directorate General for Contemporary Creativity by the Italian Ministry of Culture under the Italian Council program, produced by NOS Visual Arts Production in collaboration with APS Arcigay Il Cassero; Bottega Bologna; If I Can’t Dance, I Don’t Want To Be Part of Your Revolution; Openspace.
