The Torino Social Impact Art Award is the result of the desire to create a dialogue between art and social innovation, with the aim of initiating actions that can have an impact on the present, in the contemporary society. The project – conceived by Artissima, promoted by Torino Social Impact and with the support, since the first edition, of Fondazione Compagnia di San Paolo – is aimed at emerging talents with a multicultural and migratory background.
Selected through a call issued to the main Italian Academies of Fine Arts and Universities, the winners of the first two editions had the opportunity to take part in a residency at Combo, the hospitality partner of the project, and to work on the video artworks presented in a dedicated booth at the fair.
Liryc Dela Cruz and Caterina Erica Shanta, guided by the artist Danilo Correale and the curator Anna Daneri, are the winners of the 2020 edition. Monia Ben Hamouda and the MRZB collective, supported by Matteo Mottin and Ramona Ponzini, founders of the art project Treti Galaxie, are the winners of the 2021 edition.
Through their works, the artists narrate the contemporary society of Torino, as emblematic of a country in transformation, making their multifaceted points of view interact with the stimulating context of the city and its most significant cultural and social phenomena.
