Artissima welcomes anonymous art project into its spaces, an artistic initiative dedicated to the promotion of contemporary Japanese art, with a vision that intertwines personal responsibility and collective commitment through contemporary art.
Founded in 2023 on the initiative of Japanese entrepreneur Hiroyuki Maki—heir to a family tradition that has made philanthropy a core value—the project supports both emerging and established Japanese artists who are well recognized in Japan but still little known internationally, while fostering direct exchange between curators, museums, and cultural institutions in Europe and Japan.
After its debut in Venice with exhibitions by Kengo Kito and Mika Ninagawa with EiM, organized as collateral events of the Japan Pavilion at the 2025 Architecture Biennale, anonymous art project has chosen Turin and Artissima as its new stage to strengthen its ties with Italy. In Italy, anonymous art project is represented by Fuyumi Namioka, co-founder of the studio Veronesi Namioka, who oversees all activities and relations with artistic and museum institutions as the project’s cultural representative. Guided by artistic director Masahiko Haito and with international curatorship by Kodama Kanazawa, anonymous art project presents at Artissima four protagonists of the contemporary Japanese scene, reaffirming Turin as a crossroads of artistic research and international openness.
