THE CURATORS’ CHOICE

Discovery, research, and a focus on emerging languages and experimental practices has always characterized the curatorial identity of Artissima, making it an exceptional observatory for those who work in the field of cultural production and artistic discourse. Since the first edition of the fair in 2007, Artissima has offered a global and up-to-date probe into the work of emerging and established galleries. The Curators’ Choice is a program for international curators, which emphasizes – starting with the title – the fact that Artissima has always been “the fair preferred by curators”. Supported by Fondazione per l’Arte CRT, the program invites a selected group of international curators, to experience the fair from their own critical perspective. As part of the program, the cohort of curators is hosted in Turin alongside a tailored  agenda designed to foster contact between professionals operating in museums, biennials and international institutions, and Artissima’s participating galleries.

The program culminates in an award mechanism, in which each curator will be asked to highlight one gallery previously unknown to them, whose displays are considered particularly interesting. Selected galleries will be highlighted through the fair’s communications channels during the fair week.
