Event Hercule Florence. Le Nouveau Robinson

Description

Presentation of catalogue

An eclectic explorer and humanist, Hercule Florence left early 19th-century France for Brazil, where he invented a photographic procedure at the same time as research was being carried out by Nièpce, Daguerre and Fox Talbot in Europe. This extraordinary figure was the theme of a recent exhibition at the Nouveau Musée National de Monaco and a volume tracing his practices through a series of essays, commissioned especially for this research project, a rich iconographic corpus and previously unpublished manuscripts.

Speakers: Linda Fregni Nagler (artist, curator of the exhibition and editor of the volume), Cristiano Raimondi (head of development and international projects at the Nouveau Musée National de Monaco, curator of the exhibition), Giovanna Silva (head of Humboldt Books)
