Torino and Piemonte are seen as a nodal reference point for contemporary art, thanks to a large network of public and private players (foundations, museums, galleries, art spaces) whose activities in the fields of visual and performing arts generate a wide range of exhibitions, events, fairs and initiatives (particularly concentrated in the month of November) recognised on a national and international level: these creative resources represent a true identity value for the metropolitan territory. The role of Torino Città Laboratorio della Creatività, historically linked to art and design, has also emerged in the processes of urban regeneration launched since the late 1900s on the wave of the city’s post-industrial repositioning. The experimentation and innovation in the various forms of art, technology, culture and knowledge produced and spread across the urban territory by the exponents of the contemporary art system in Torino and Piemonte offer a major opportunity to the city: not just as an indispensable motor for the quality of artistic production and for the cultural growth of the community, but also as a keystone of economic growth. Today Torino is witnessing a wave of new players and new proposals: a positive situation that requires suitable governance and a renewed ability to work as a system. The encounter provides a path of listening and co-design open to all the realities operating in this sector: to construct the best conditions for the expression of artistic creativity in the city, in a perspective of coordination and cooperation.
