Before becoming a bearer of meaning, the word is a trace, a form that remains, a sign that tra verses space and preserves the possibility of something that has been said, thought, or seen. The trace does not coincide with what it represents. Rather, it is what remains of it. In this sense, the word can be understood as a form of memory: it names something that is not necessarily present, yet continues to appear through language. Neon makes this condition visible. The word becomes light, while light itself constitutes a fragile, immaterial presence, perpetually suspended between appearance and disappearance. The word is removed from the page and transformed into a luminous structure. Letters become matter, drawing, and light; language assumes a three-dimensional presence and presents itself to the viewer first as an image to be seen and only subsequently as a text to be read. Neon thus introduces a perceptual shift: the meaning of the word does not disappear, but is accompanied by its visual dimension. The shape of the letters, their luminosity, scale, and spatial arrangement become constitutive elements of the work to the same extent as its semantic meaning.
