A meeting with Alfredo Pirri. Art, Architecture and Commissioning

The installation titled Passi 2026 – The Number 6, Torino – part of a renowned series the artist has been developing since the 2000s – was conceived specifically for the internal courtyard of The Number 6 building in Turin, one of the Building Group’s most iconic projects. The work reinterprets its setting and the perception of space through the use of a shattered mirror placed on the ground, upon which viewers can walk. The architecture is reflected on the floor, becoming an integral part of the artwork itself – a relationship that shifts dynamically depending on the light and the presence of people. This project builds upon a long-standing partnership – spanning three decades – between Alfredo Pirri and the Tucci Russo Gallery, with whom the artist has actively collaborated since the 1990s. The talk offers an opportunity to share the story behind the work’s creation and to reflect on the profound relationship between contemporary art, architecture, and the commissioning process. Alfredo Pirri’s Passi 2026 – The Number 6, Torino is a project supported by the Building Group, curated by Alessandra Siviero and Francesca Canfora, in collaboration with the Tucci Russo Gallery (Torre Pellice and Turin).
