Archivorum Unwritten

Archivorum

Archivorum Unwritten is a new award, in its inaugural edition, presented within the Monologue/Dialogue section of Artissima 2026. The Award is designed to support the development of an editorial project conceived by an artist and realised in collaboration with Archivorum, whose activity spans the digital preservation of artists’ archives, support for research through grants, and the dissemination of knowledge through residencies, events and workshops. The award stems from the idea that publishing can be an integral part of an artistic practice, rather than simply a way of documenting it: the editorial dimension is understood as an artistic medium in its own right, capable of giving form to research still in progress, to a personal archive, or to a project that has remained “unwritten”. The final outcome may take the form of a monograph, a booklet, a catalogue, a record, or another editorial form appropriate to the selected project. The process will be developed according to the model already adopted by Archivorum xM: a collaborative model, rather than one of self-publishing, in which the artist remains at the centre of the conception while Archivorum provides the editorial structure, coordination and production support required. The award provides a total grant of 20,000 euros, dedicated entirely to the development and production of the winning editorial project. Where useful to the project, Archivorum may also facilitate a period in Turin at the Archivorum Library, dedicated to research, production or exchange with the foundation’s network. The programme will conclude with a public session of an editorial or research nature, developed together with the selected artist, whose format — conversation, workshop, presentation or reading — will emerge from the nature of the project itself.
