The Davis Cup has always been one of the most important tennis competitions on an international level. The Italian team has taken part since 1922, and until the relegation in 2000 it was the only team to always be included in the World Group. The photo shows the great tennis champion Nicola Pietrangeli, who played in as many as 164 Davis Cup matches (singles and doubles), gaining a large number of victories. After his playing career came to an end, he was also the Davis Cup captain and umpire.
