Their remarks: On behalf of the jury, Robert Leckie, Lucas Morin, Maja Wismer and myself, Zippora Elders, we are pleased to thank all the participants in the New Entries section. Galleries play a vital part in giving platform to artists and supporting diverse practices. In unstable times like these, we applaude the commitment to start a gallery and make adventurous artistic choices. While impressed and delighted to be introduced to all of your work, we selected three galleries that stood out for us. In alphabetical order: Trotoar, Zagreb, brings a compelling installation by versatile artist Marko Tadić. He collects postcards, cartography and archival images ranging from Yugoslavian architecture to rural towns in transition, and combines this with drawings, paper-cut puppets, and sculptures. The jury recognised Vohm, Seoul, for its precise and thoughtful duo presentation of Hana Kim and Eun Yeoung Lee. The presentation highlighted the artists’ strong painting and ceramic making practices, and their critical engagement with their respective mediums. Presented on a bespoke display system, Milan and Naples based Zazà’s presentation of large-scale, meditative drawings by Shaan Bevan was notable for being both bold and sensitive.
New Entries is the section that welcomes the most interesting exhibitors participating in the fair for the first time, showcasing each year Artissima’s strong international scouting ability. The attention Artissima devotes to discovering the potential of emerging galleries and artists, both in Italy and abroad, has defined the fair’s mission and research activity since its beginningsIn 2024 the fund was won by the galleries Hatch, Paris; Manuš, Spalato, Zagreb; Matta, Milano.
