The displays of Gioventù Italiana del Littorio (GIL) were moments in which the Fascist organization flaunted the achievements of the young men and women in its ranks. These were collective performances that had great audience appeal and served to glorify the regime, also thanks to hymns and speeches aimed at reinforcing a sense of belonging to the Homeland.
During the years of Fascist rule, young people were encouraged not only to practice various types of sports, but also to engage in training in gymnastics and athletics, where discipline is essential to obtain good results, in keeping with the motto “mens sana in corpore sano”.
